Mad Scientists

I have always been fascinated with history, science, and inventions. In honor of Thomas Edison’s birthday, here is part of my senior thesis.  I created a pop-up book on famous inventors.  Edison was the pop-up, with his arm stretching high up in triumph with his filament lightbulb.

Next in the series was the Wright Brothers. Here is Orville testing out the flyer while Wilbur chases after him.

And here was the final piece of my senior thesis: Galileo.  Chronologically he was first, and really the first “mad” scientist.  My favorite part of this piece is the bust of Copernicus at the bottom, the first person to say the planets revolved around the sun.  The other interesting thing about this piece is that all the objects around him were also inventions or experiments of his.

Now this guy, he isn’t really an inventor, just a character I created for my office’s Friday art prompt: Mad Scientist.  I am working on a book about this boy and the weird experiments he does in his room.
